October 16, 1923 Providence Journal Original Complete Newspaper Up for auction is an edition of the October 16, 1923 Providence Journal. This paper covers the first ever World Series win by The New York Yankees. This paper was released the day after the Yankees won the 1923 World Series over the New York Giants. The paper is complete and has two pages covering the game and the historic win. This is the only copy of the Providence Journal I have ever seen from the Yankees first World Series win. This is an original complete newspaper. The paper is in decent condition considering the age but the spine has been reinforced with archival tape and there is some chipping to the top of some pages. It is a fragile 100+ year old paper that needs to be handled with care. With that being said, the condition really is secondary to the historic importance and rareness of this issue.
