BONKERS V2 – MAGNUM

Bigger bottles taste better – it's a fact. Magnums are our favourite format because they age more slowly, developing greater layers of complexity. They're also the perfect way to celebrate. It's been two decades since I planted my first vineyard for Sugrue South Downs and to mark the occasion we've released this limited edition of Bonkers V2 in magnum. Bonkers began as an embryo of an idea in the perfect 2022 vintage. Representing our unique take on English still Chardonnay, it employs a range of traditional and experimental winemaking techniques – fermentation in oak, ageing under flor, controlled oxidation, and blending vintages – as well as a drop of Irish humour. A blend of 2022, 2023, and 2024, Bonkers V2 is a purer, more elegant, and salty expression of Chardonnay, but with that same patina of oak and deliciously creamy texture that we, you, and the critics adored about V1. Crafted with even greater longevity in mind, we can’t wait to see how V2 develops over time. I knew Bonkers V2 was a sleeper of a wine and that it would take time to come around. Now it has, I only wish I'd bottled more in magnum! Pure, crisp, and deliciously saline, this will make an eye-catching centrepiece on any dinner table. The solera lives on. So it goes.
