The Parting by F. C. B. Cadell Art Print

Two figures and the moment just before one of them leaves. F. C. B. Cadell painted with a directness that makes the subject almost secondary.Cadell was the most stylish of the Scottish Colourists — flat planes, hard edges, colour laid on without apology. He had trained in Paris at sixteen and never entirely came home in his handling. He served in the Great War in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and the painting after it is sharper and cooler than the painting before.Printed to order on heavyweight archival paper with a narrow white border that keeps the painting's own proportions.
