Beautiful Southern Plains, Probably Kiowa, Beaded Fringed Bag
This is a very visual bag. The shape is six sided with thin fringe on all sides as well as down the triangular shaped flap. The front has a an abstract floral figure outlined in dark blue beads and two stars within an open blue band following the contour of the bag. The flap has 3 stars and is closed by a round brass button. The back side has a similar open abstract floral figure within a band of open cobalt blue beads and a band of open red beads. The hide is very soft and the beads used in the bag are small. The only flaw in the bag is that someone cut about ½" of the fringe on the flap and cut down some of the fringe on the same side of the bag. This is still an unusually beautiful bag and will be a pleasure to own. L. including 2" fringe 9 ½"; W, including 1" side fringe 9" c.1900-1910 #9071
