Most fluidized beds need gravity or a dedicated air supply to move the bed. The BioMotion doesn't: the flow from your existing filter system fluidizes it. The media is barely heavier than water, so it sinks when the flow stops and even a 1/8 HP pump's output is enough to raise and fluff the bed.
