Dark Green Vesuvio Suit

Dark green is what you reach for once the navy and the charcoal are covered and the next suit should be a decision, not a repeat. It suits a wedding, a client dinner or an ordinary Tuesday at the office, and people tend to remember the man wearing it. This is the Vesuvio, the structured suit block in the Tagliatore range: a traditional shoulder seam, light canvas and interlining, and a trimmer body than their soft sport-coat cut. The name is Italian for "the cutter", handed down from a family workshop in Martina Franca that began by cutting shoe uppers, and the production line is still entirely Italian. Wear it as a full suit, or split it up. The jacket works over grey flannel trousers or dark denim, and the trousers sit well under a navy knit. A white or pale blue shirt and brown shoes is the easy answer. The trousers are left long at the hem so the length can be set properly, and in Edmonton we do that in store. Measurements are taken flat on our floor, and half-measurements (1/2) are across the laid-flat garment, not doubled. Tagliatore is hand-finished, so allow about 1 cm of variance. If you're between sizes, size up. Shoulders are easy to nip, body is hard to add. Chest 1/2 is straight across under the armpit seam. PTP is from armpit seam to armpit seam. Sleeve length is from shoulder seam to cuff.
