Pañuelos (Spiritual Scarves) Pañuelos are used in many spiritual traditions for protection, cleansing, prayer, and honoring the spiritual court and ancestors. They may be worn over the head during spiritual work to cover and protect the crown, or placed on a bóveda or spiritual altar to dress the sacred space and honor the spirits being worked with. Different colors may also be chosen according to the spirit, intention, or type of spiritual work being performed.
