This is a rare item that is highly collectable for fans of Ovation guitars, and it also could be made to be a useable guitar by filling spots on the neck that Ovation added to show off their truss rod innovation. The #6778-LX designation identifies this as a salesman sample, meaning it was built for demonstration and showroom use rather than standard retail stock — these typically saw very little or no play. The mid-depth Lyrachord bowl puts it in a comfortable middle ground between Ovation's deep and shallow body lines, and the solid Sitka spruce top over optimized scalloped X-bracing gives it the projection you'd expect from a stage-ready acoustic-electric. The 5-piece mahogany and maple laminate neck is a period-correct feature on this line, contributing to stability and a slightly brighter response than a straight mahogany neck. Everything here is original — finish, bridge, saddle, tuners, and nut. No cracks, repairs, or modifications anywhere on the instrument.
