Lomond Cats Tail Syrah 2020

DESCRIPTION Produced from a single vineyard in the cool-climate Cape Agulhas, the Cat's Tail Syrah is named after the indigenous Erica lineata ("Cat's Tail") fynbos species found on the estate. The vineyard's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its gravelly sandstone and shale soils produce a Syrah with freshness, elegance and structure. Hand-harvested fruit underwent fermentation with gentle extraction before spending 18 months in first- and second-fill French oak barrels, resulting in a refined expression of cool-climate Syrah. TASTING NOTES Nose: Rich dark fruit with oak spice, white pepper and delicate floral notes. Palate: Intense flavours of dark chocolate, ripe red fruit and savoury spice, supported by fine tannins and vibrant acidity.
