by Robin KittlesonGeneva, ILRobin's pieces begin as a mass of molten glass pulled into long thin rods which contain a series of concentric circles built from thin layers of color that can only be seen when snipped into a bit and turned on end. Hundreds of these cross sections are individually arranged on a kiln shelf and fired to become a single surface. From there, each piece is extensively cold worked for a satin finish and fired again for the final shaping.As a full-time studio artist for over 25 years, Robin focuses on creating art that is beautiful to look at yet always functional.
