Pair of Art Nouveau Copper and Brass Vases | Beldray, England, c.1900-1910

A pair of Art Nouveau copper vases by Beldray (originally Bradley & Co), made in England, circa 1900-1910. Each vase has a tapered trumpet form on a flared circular base, with a brass rim to the top edge. The copper body is worked in relief with a stylised poppy and foliate motif, running from a broad flowerhead cluster at the rim down through slender stems to two further poppy blooms and a curling tendril near the base — characteristic of the organic, naturalistic lines of the Art Nouveau period, which was at its height in Britain during these years. The underside of each base bears the impressed Beldray trademark. Some surface dinks and wear are present, as shown in the photographs, consistent with age.
