Gera Estate: Exceptional Coffee, Building Strong Communities & Sustainable Growth Uncommon Coffee Roasters enjoys working directly with farmers whenever possible. In November of 2015 the UCR team traveled to Ethiopia in search of new and sustainable partnerships. The Gera Estate thrives on principles of sustainability for both the farming environment and the people of the area. The estate provides housing, education, clean drinking water, electricity, health care, recreational facilities and more, free of charge for all employees. In addition to all of this, the coffee is exceptional. All coffees on the estate are shade grown and protected from pollution by enriching the soil with nitrogen-producing plants and natural fertilizer. This coffee is truly special. Like many Ethiopian coffees, expect a unique cup full of fruity and tea-like flavors with milk acidity.
