Fabric Shaver

A fabric shaver is a simple tool for helping well-loved garments look cared for again. Designed to gently remove pills, fuzz, and loose surface fibres, this rechargeable fabric shaver helps extend the life of sweaters, coats, blankets, and other textiles you already own. Rather than replacing a garment when it begins to show wear, a few minutes of careful shaving can bring the surface back to a cleaner, smoother finish. When caring for wool and natural fibres, it is important to use a shaver that cuts pills away cleanly, rather than one that pulls at the fibres. Pulling can tug at the yarn and cause unnecessary wear over time. Small scissors can also be used to remove pills, but they take longer and carry the risk of accidentally cutting into the garment itself. This is especially helpful for garments made with woollen-spun yarn. Woollen-spun pieces are soft, warm, and beautifully lofty, but they can pill within the first 3–6 months of regular wear as the initial guard hairs and loose fibres work their way to the surface. Once those first pills are removed, the garment usually settles and pills much less often.
