Chicago American Giants Heritage Baseball Jersey

Some uniforms carry more than a team name. This ivory pinstripe jersey carries the story of the greatest dynasty Black baseball ever produced. The Chicago American Giants ruled the diamond when the game refused to make room for Black players. This heritage jersey recreates that look with navy chenille "CHICAGO" lettering arched across the chest, tonal navy pinstripes running the full body, and navy piping tracing the placket and collar. Foster built his teams on pitching, defense, and speed, a style of play sportswriters called "tricky baseball." For the first decade of the club's existence, the American Giants won nearly every Western Championship they contested. In 1920, Foster organized the Negro National League, the first Black professional baseball league to last, and his American Giants won its first three pennants in 1920, 1921, and 1922. Under manager Dave Malarcher, the team won the Negro League World Series in 1926 and 1927, defeating the Bacharach Giants both years. Hall of Famers who wore the uniform include Rube Foster, Pete Hill, John Henry "Pop" Lloyd, Cristóbal Torriente, Bill Foster, Willie Wells, Turkey Stearnes, Mule Suttles, and Cool Papa Bell.
