Julian Schaal Grand Cru Rangen Riesling - Alsace, France Bright and vibrant, with a pale to medium straw or gold color, this wine has an aromatic profile of white flowers with hints of jasmine and honeysuckle. Fruity notes of peaches, citrus zest, and hints of tropical fruit bring out a complex, layered nose, then lead to a sweet, acidic palate, followed by refreshing notes in the finish. The vineyard in Rangen is located in the southernmost Grand Cru in Alsace and is the only one situated on volcanic rock. It features an extreme 60-degree slope that yields intense, low-production fruit. The grapes are hand-harvested, undergo spontaneous fermentation, and are aged on lees to build texture without relying on residual sugar.
