The Circle of Learning is an Indigenous-owned digital learning platform created to bring authentic Indigenous voices, stories, and teachings directly to schools, libraries, workplaces, and communities. For thousands of years, Indigenous knowledge has been shared through story. Stories carry history, culture, values, and lived experience in ways that inspire understanding and create lasting connections. The Circle of Learning continues this tradition by making these teachings accessible through engaging online courses led by respected Indigenous Knowledge Sharers, authors, educators, and community leaders. Our purpose is simple: to make Indigenous learning meaningful, accessible, and impactful to inch our way to Truth and Reconciliation while deburdening the storyteller. Whether you are a teacher introducing Truth and Reconciliation in the classroom, a librarian expanding educational resources for your patrons, an employer strengthening cultural understanding within your organisation, or an individual seeking to learn, The Circle of Learning provides flexible learning experiences that meet people where they are. About the presenter: Phyllis Webstad (née Jack) is Northern Secwépemc (Shuswap) from the Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation (Canoe Creek Indian Band). She comes from mixed Secwépemc and Irish/Scottish heritage. She was born in Dog Creek and lives in Williams Lake, BC, Canada. Because of Phyllis and her story, a simple orange shirt has become a conversation starter and national symbol to honour residential school Survivors and their families. Phyllis is a founding member of Orange Shirt Day. She has received four honorary PhDs for her activism. In January 2025, she was honoured to receive the BC Reconciliation Award. At the time she was presented this award, a new award was announced, the Phyllis Webstad Emerging Leaders Youth Award.
