The recommended fragrance or essential oil level is 0.5% to 1.0%. Recommended active additions, whether oil-soluble or water-soluble, should not exceed 5%. When adding oils, butters or botanical extracts, gently warm or melt the additives first where required. The cream base may be warmed slightly to around 38°C to 45°C to help incorporation, then mixed until fully blended. Heat-sensitive ingredients, including fragrance, essential oils and delicate actives, should be added last and stirred through evenly. Any additions should be suitable for cosmetic use and checked for compatibility with the base. Finished products should be reviewed for stability, preservation, labelling and compliance before resale.
