Billy's Garden 2026

Come with me for a gentle wander around my walled garden as I share some of the plants, flowers and roses that inspire my botanical painting. I’ll show you how the garden has developed over the years, from the sentimental rose bed filled with plants given to me by friends and family, to the peonies, irises, wildflowers and perennials that find their way into my paintings and tutorials. You may even recognise a few familiar favourites from the school! Along the way, I’ll introduce you to some of the plants I particularly love, including beautiful variegated roses, Peach-leaf Bellflower, Sweet Scabious, Tiarella, peonies and climbing hydrangeas, as well as a few flowers that may well become future painting projects. We’ll also step beyond the walled garden into the meadow, where we allow the grass and wildflowers to grow and enjoy seeing what appears naturally each year. This is a relaxed, personal tour rather than a painting lesson — a little glimpse into where much of my inspiration begins, and the garden that provides me with so many wonderful subjects to photograph, study and paint.
