U.S. Military Original Stainless Steel Mess Kit NEW These kits are brand NEW straight out of the sealed factory box! All kits are dated 1982 and have NEVER been eaten out of! Completely unissued and ready for you to be the first person to eat out of it! Everyone needs to eat and the military wanted every soldier to have the proper plates to do it! This style of mess kit was first produced in the early 1900s and issued out to troops fighting in World War 1. The design was updated to what you see pictured here, a 2 plate system with 3 separate food areas! How does it work? Simply pull the metal "tail" out from its closed position in the middle of the mess kit and separate the 2 plates from each other. You now have 3 compartments to place your food! The 2 compartment plate can be placed on the metal "tail" to combine the plates. You can also use this mess kit to cook! Use the single compartment dish as a frying pan or sauce pan by holding the metal "tail".
