FLUORITE with CALCITE on PYRRHOTITE
It is rare that colourless minerals attract attention, but during the 1990s Dal'negorsk, in Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia became famous for some of the finest crystal-clear colourless Fluorite crystals that the world had seen but their supply ended quickly, meaning that specimens seen available today are true classics. This magnificent small cabinet-sized display specimen features three main glassy, colourless, cubic Fluorite crystals, the largest of which reaches 2.8 cm on edge, the other two to 2.2 cm, hosted on the classic Pyrrhotite-bearing matrix. The Fluorite crystals which sit nicely for display on top of this specimen all present subtle, but distinctive small bevelled edges and their excellent transparency means that they act like windows to the crystal surface beneath, which in this case is a world of small pale cream coloured rhombic Calcite crystals. The Fluorite crystals are in extremely fine condition, requiring magnification to spot any sign of edge chipping. An extremely high-level Fluorite for the advanced collector.
