Head East – Flat As A Pancake

Flat as a Pancake is the debut studio album by American rock band Head East, originally self-released in early 1975 on the band's own Pyramid Records label before A&M Records reissued it later that year with new cover art. Produced by Roger Boyd and recorded at Golden Voice Recording Studios in South Pekin, Illinois, the album introduced the melodic hard rock sound that would define the band's mid-1970s output. The album became a Midwest rock radio staple, anchored by the extended opener Never Been Any Reason and the seven-minute instrumental showcase Jefftown Creek, an homage to a creek in Illinois' Jefferson County. It also includes City of Gold, Fly by Night Lady, and Love Me Tonight.
