Antique 19th Century Oversized Large Child Germain Portrait Miniature Pendant

We need to bring back portrait miniatures. We should all be wearing them everywhere. This antique, 19th century hand painted porcelain portrait is a stunning and rare, oversized portrait of a child, clocking in at nearly 4 inches tall including the bail. The bail is a nice, wide size to accommodate various chains or ribbons. It looks amazing stacked with other jewelry on a ribbon or chain. Can be worn high as a choker or longer. The origin of this hand-painted porcelain plaque is German, roughly 1880–1910. These were produced in and around Dresden and Berlin, with many smaller studios like Hutschenreuther and anonymous Dresden decorators doing similar work. The subject is an idealized peasant girl in a red headscarf and blue bodice, almost certainly copied from a popular 19th-century genre painting. Images like this (girls in red kerchiefs, gypsy girls, shepherdesses) were stock subjects that porcelain painters produced for the sentimental Victorian market. This one is an unusual large size with a sticker on the inside in Czech language, a possible indication that it was sold or finished in that market at one point in time. SIZE: One size. MATERIALS: Brass, hand painted porcelain. ERA: 19th century. MEASUREMENTS: Roughly 4 inches tall. CONDITION: In good antique condition, with some normal wear and tear that comes with age. The back of the portrait has some visible scratching and a mark left behind from tape. There is a very small chip in the porcelain at the bottom, not noticeable when worn or hung, reflected in price.
