The Hungarian text at the bottom translates roughly as “You didn’t buy your violin from Reményi.” Budapest, District VI, Király Street 58 and 60. Artist: Peter Ratz About the artist: Péter Rátz (Rátz Péter, 1879–1945) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist associated with the Nagybánya (Baia Mare) artists’ colony, one of the major centres of modern Hungarian painting. He was born in Császló in 1879 and went to Nagybánya in 1905, where he studied under two important Hungarian painters, István Réti and Károly Ferenczy.
