VINTAGE 1934 9CT GOLD GENTLEMEN’S ART-DECO WATCH
VINTAGE 1934 9CT GOLD GENTLEMEN’S ART-DECO WATCH. Vintage 1934 9ct gold gentlemen’s art-deco watch original box & strap. This fabulous gentlemen’s art-deco inspired watch was retailed by the prestigious jeweller E & R.S. Harrison of Tunbridge Wells and is of exceptional quality. The large 9ct case is in the classic ‘Tonneau’ style, with faceted sides and shoulders. Curved to the wrist and with solid strap bars this is an exceptionally stylish watch. The outside back is stamped with Edinburgh hallmarks for 1934. The original shaped crystal is still present, not replaced with a modern one as they usually have. Measuring 23mm across not including the crown and 37mm tip-to-tip. The case is in excellent condition, with no dings or serious scratches what-so-ever and nice sharp edges to the shoulders etc. There is some very fine rubbing to the back from very, very minimal use. The silvered dial with subsidiary seconds is very nice indeed, completely original and just showing a little patina of age. The pieced blued steel hands are in excellent order, with no rust. The finish of the calibre 29 FHF movement is beautiful, with fifteen jewels and Geneve stripes. It is in ‘as-new’ condition, looking to have had minimal use. The watch retains it’s original leather strap which is sewn onto the watch head, with highly unusual rolled gold buckle, both still in very good order. Also retaining the original fitted Harrison’s presentation box, which it has probably spent most of it’s life stored in. This is rare watch, of exceptional quality and in ‘time-warp condition. This would have cost a pretty penny when new.
