Richard Panting worked for many years as a fine professional violinist before bringing his extensive musical experience to the art of violin making, where he established himself as one of our more prominent Australasian Luthiers. This viola with its lovely one-piece maple back, combines resonance and a quick response with depth, brilliance and a very attractive silkiness. String crossings feel effortless, and the viola provides power, projection and a good range of tonal colour! The outline of the body has been designed to promote ease of playing.
