Study of Sunflowers by Wijnand van Dam

A charming mid-20th century Dutch pastel study of sunflowers by Wijnand van Dam, Dutch (1889–1959). The composition depicts a vibrant arrangement of sunflowers in a simple ceramic vessel, worked in rich golden yellows and deep earthy tones against a subdued background. Signed lower left by the artist. Presented behind glass with a wide mount and decorative gilt frame, the work has a wonderfully atmospheric, softly textured quality typical of pastel. A striking and decorative floral still life with particularly strong scale and presence.
