Rare Kai Kristiansen 3 bay wall unit in beech, 1970s

This extremely rare wall unit in beech was designed by Kai Kristiansen and manufactured in Denmark in the late 1970s by FM Møbler, which is validated by the original label. It was sold in the renowned Copenhagen store Illum Bollighus. The overall size of this set is H: 200 / W: 261 / D: 42 cm. The set’s most distinctive feature is that it is entirely made of beech. Most of Kai Kristiansen’s designs were crafted in teak or rosewood, sometimes oak. But in beech there is one of the thousand that remains on the market. It is one of the last FM series Kristiansen units. The production stopped shortly after. Various cabinets make the set more versatile. The sliding door cabinet and chest of drawers are perfect for keeping things organized, while the open cabinets help display decorative items or vinyl record collections. It will add a bit of mid-century design and elegance to any living room or home office. This vintage wall unit is entirely modular, and one can raise or lower all the parts, as well as interchange them as needed. The system uses a simple system of metal brackets that are on the back of the shelves and cabinets that fit into the metal rails. The set consists of: four shelves 24 cm depth, one shelf 18 cm depth, a dresser H: 50 / W: 86 / D: 40 cm, drawer’s height is 9 cm, two open cabinets H: 36 / W: 86 / D: 32 cm, a sliding door cabinet H: 36 / W: 86 / D: 32 cm, four metal rails 200 cm long. The wall unit has been renovated. The wood has been cleaned with professional compounds and preserved by a few thin layers of lacquer. On one of the shelves there is a visible circle on the veneer, which adds authenticity to the whole. Overall, this set is in perfect vintage condition.
