Deliveries in July-August 2026 Päijän 520LX is a rowing boat certified for a 10 hp outboard, bringing new speed and freedom of movement to the stability and ease of use familiar from the 520L. The boat comes standard with a large aluminium trim plate, enabling the use of a more powerful outboard safely and steadily. The 520LX is designed for users who want to retain the rowing characteristics, ease of handling and shallow-water usability of a rowing boat, but need more speed for longer trips. For anglers, this means faster transfers between fishing spots. At the cottage and in the archipelago, the 520LX makes it possible to cover longer distances more efficiently without giving up the best qualities of a rowing boat. Between a rowing boat and a light motorboat The X in 520LX brings together the ideas of Crossover, Extreme and Explore. The 520LX sits between a rowing boat and a light motorboat: it retains the stability, rowing characteristics and ease of use familiar from the 520L, while adding more speed, freedom and possibilities for adventure. By motorboat standards the speed may not sound dramatic, but for a rowing boat, a tested top speed of up to approximately 24 km/h adds a small touch of Extreme. Large aluminium trim plate as standard The main difference between the 520LX and the 520L is the large aluminium trim plate included as standard. It has been developed and tested specifically for this boat model, and it is what makes the 520LX certified for a 10 hp outboard. The trim plate improves the boat’s running position when driven with an outboard, helps prevent the stern from dropping and reduces bow rise. This improves visibility, comfort and overall control. The trim plate also adds stability in turns, making the 520LX pleasant and safe to handle under power. The aluminium trim plate is bolted to the fibreglass wing at the stern of the boat and can be removed if needed. The boat’s load capacities and other maximum limits remain the same as in the 520L model. In testing, the 520LX reached approximately 24 km/h with one person and a load of about 85 kg. With two people and a load of about 200 kg, the speed was approximately 22 km/h. The 520LX is also available as a ready-to-use boat package with a long-shaft Mercury FourStroke 9.9 EFI MLH outboard. Mercury 9.9 EFI is Päijän’s recommended outboard for the 520LX. The same 520L stability and rowing characteristics The 520LX is based on the Päijän 520L rowing boat, known for its exceptional stability. The boat has a wide, flat centre section in the hull, a high keel and large flotation pontoons on both sides. Together, these features make a Päijän rowing boat extremely stable, safe and easy to handle. Although the 520LX allows the use of a more powerful outboard, it still retains the essential qualities of a rowing boat. It is easy to beach, practical in shallow waters and can still be rowed whenever rowing is the most practical or safest way to move. Practical storage and electric outboard readiness The Päijän 520LX includes the familiar L-model storage compartments under the front and middle seats. The 2025 model also includes built-in internal cable channels from the stern to the middle and bow storage compartments for electric outboard cables. The lockable and dry storage compartments are suitable for an external battery or other valuables. These features make the 520LX well suited for electric outboard use when the user wants to move quietly and calmly on the water. Storage Compartment Dimensions » Durable construction for Nordic conditions The Päijän 520LX has an unsinkable double-hull construction filled with water-resistant polyurethane foam. The boat’s high and heavy keel is reinforced with steel rods cast into solid resin. This keeps the centre of gravity low and provides excellent directional stability when rowing. Both the outer and inner surfaces of the boat are finished with a thick, hard and glossy gelcoat. The smooth surface comes directly from the mould, while the rough laminated fibreglass typical of rowing boats is hidden inside the double-hull structure. This construction helps the boat withstand harsh Nordic weather conditions and maintain its appearance for years. The surface is easy to clean by simply rinsing with water. A typical Päijän rowing boat has a service life of over 50 years. Colours and equipment Päijän 520LX is available in two colours: Pine Green and Syvänne Blue.
