Knitting 101
This class is for those brand new to knitting or have not picked up the needles in quite some time. Come learn the basics and work on a small project. All classes and lessons must be purchased online at least 24 hours before the start time. Instructor: Kestrel Prerequisites: None Homework: None Skills Learned: How to hold the yarn and needles Maintaining tension Making a slip knot Long tail cast-on Stitches: knit, purl, yarn overs, slipping stitches Increasing and decreasing stitches Types of yarn, weights, fibers, and notions How to read a pattern Using the free platform, Ravelry Weaving in ends, finishing Starting a project Class Materials: 1 - 2 skein worsted weight superwash wool yarn, we recommend a light color of Malabrigo Rios US 8/5.0 mm straight needles or 16” circular US 8/5.0 mm needles Stitch markers Tapestry needle Scissors Materials Required: Please come in during shop hours to purchase your supplies and have your yarn wound. You will need at least 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (we will help you with this!) as well as a pair of size US 8 needles, either straight or circular.
