Circa 1945-1965, unattributed. A large-scale Swedish tapestry of expansive orchard field. Repeated trees in quiet rows, scattered crosses and dotted constellations throughout. Folk vocabulary rendered with mid-century clarity. A natural smoke gray linen ground with brown, berry, rhubarb, and saffron tones. Synthetic dyes typical of the postwar Scandinavian textile period, now gently sun faded. Wool weft on linen warp with a light structure. Thin, supple hand. Woven to size, with integrated bands folded and hand-hemmed. Original metal hanging loops remain across the upper edge. Likely part of the Swedish studio weaving movement of the mid-20th century, when traditional rölakan techniques were adapted into lighter formats for modern architectural interiors.
