Elemental — A Winter Solstice Ritual Workshop
The winter solstice is a threshold: a moment of peace, for going inward and tending to our truest selves. This intimate workshop uses the four elements — earth, water, fire, and air — to inspire understanding of our needs and how we can care for them during this pivotal time of year. Together, we'll open with a brief, custom-designed shared ceremony, before turning inward to design fully personalised elemental rituals; as well as exploring altar creation to compliment these practices. No experience with ritual, witchcraft, or creativity needed — just a willingness to show up and explore. Sunday 14 June, 2pm | $90 Includes bottomless herbal tea and your choice of one of Wellington Apothecary's elemental essential oil roll-ons to take home. All materials provided. Expect candlelight, tactile making, and a little bit of magic. Facilitated by Penelope Wilson, trainee Creative Arts Therapist. Maximum 8 participants. - ABOUT YOUR HOST I'm Penelope, a second-year trainee Creative Arts Therapist completing my Master's in Creative Arts Therapies at Whitecliffe College. I originally hail from the Waikato, but have called Pōneke home for over a decade. I'm a self-taught artist with a background in education and a lifelong love of the arts, language, and writing. My practice blends image-making and words with movement, voice, ritual, and nature-based approaches, and I'm particularly drawn to working with recycled and found materials — there's magic in the overlooked and the repurposed. I believe in the power of the arts to support wellbeing, and in the quiet transformative potential of making things with our hands. I aim to create spaces that are welcoming, curious, and a little bit wild — where people feel safe enough to play, reflect, and reconnect with themselves.
