Goryeo Celadon Oil Pot with Inlaid Chrysanthemum Design
A slightly large celadon oil pot fired during the Goryeo period. It has a low, oval-shaped body and a thickly constructed nozzle. While most Goryeo oil pot have a body diameter of 8cm to 10cm, this piece is a rare and somewhat larger 12.4cm. The upper part of the vessel is adorned with 13 beautiful chrysanthemum motifs in black and white inlaid, and the surrounding area is luxuriously decorated with linear and beaded patterns. The footring has an exposed clay surface, and the glaze extends to the inside of the foot. The slightly grayish celadon glaze gives it a sense of refined elegance. The chip-like marks visible on the side of the body are traces left during firing. The bottom third shows some deterioration of the glaze, but overall it has a good shine.
