Red-headed Trogon

This Red-headed Trogon (Trogon erythrocephalus), a rare bird native to the dense forests of Southeast Asia, is presented here with a majestic presence, worthy of the grandest curiosity cabinets. The result of remarkably delicate taxidermy work, this specimen showcases the striking contrast of its plumage: a crimson red cap of rare vibrancy, highlighted by a delicate white collar and wings finely vermiculated in black and white. Elegantly mounted in a strictly perching position on a tall, turned black wooden stem, as can be admired in the image, the bird appears suspended in a living stillness.
