The name comes from the character Rosie, who appears in the artwork “We Can Do It!” is portrayed by J. Howard Miller from 1942. Rosie wears a jumpsuit and shows herself to be a strong and self-confident woman who is willing to do hard work. The artwork was originally produced by Westinghouse Electric Corporation for a poster campaign to motivate and encourage women workers in their factories while men were at war in World War II.
