GM has discontinued this part (old GM part number 12456211). Fitment & Important Notes Interchanges with GM part number 12456211 1997–1999 C5 Corvette (automatic only) This bushing must be removed and replaced any time the torque tube bearings are replaced. The bushing is pressed in and covers a bolt that retains the rear torque tube transmission shaft — the bolt cannot be accessed until the bushing is removed. Because of the way it is pressed in, removal requires cutting into the side and using a chisel and hammer to knock it loose. This process destroys the bushing, making replacement mandatory. 2000 C5 Corvette (automatic only) This was a split production year. Some 2000 automatic Corvettes require bushing removal for a bearing replacement and some do not. We recommend disassembling the torque tube before ordering to confirm exactly what your specific unit requires. 2001–2013 C5/C6 Corvette (automatic/manual) This bushing is present but does not need to be removed in order to perform a bearing replacement. Replacement is only necessary if the bushing itself is worn or damaged. 2014–2019 C7 Corvette (automatic/manual) This bushing is used in the rear and/or front of the C7 torque tube. The C7 arrangement differs from the C5/C6 — if the coupler bushings become damaged on a C7, they will cause these insulator bushings to fail as well, meaning replacement is needed more frequently than on C5/C6 models.
