The 2020 Caiarossa is an elegant, full-bodied Super Tuscan. A Bordeaux-style blend (Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, and Grenache), it balances ripe dark fruits, crushed limestone minerality, fresh Mediterranean herbs, and velvety tannins, creating a highly structured wine with a long finish. Tasting Profile: Nose: Expressive aromas of black cherry, sweet blackberry, and candied raspberry, layered with earthy undertones of tobacco leaf, liquorice, white pepper, and subtle hints of fresh mint. Palate: Rich, deep, and savory. You will experience flavors of dark fruit, spiced chocolate, and a touch of saline minerality. It offers a push-pull of ripe fruit and vibrant acidity, culminating in a long, lingering finish. Texture & Structure: Polished and structured with super-fine, powdery tannins. It is a powerful wine, yet retains a remarkable sense of energy and freshness. Winemaking & Cellaring: Crafting: Biodynamically grown grapes, spontaneously fermented separately by plot, and aged up to 20 months in barriques (30% new) before resting in concrete vats and bottles. Peak Drinking: While beautiful upon release, the 2020 possesses the structure to age gracefully in the cellar through 2033+.
