HOW IT WORKS: 150ss mesh has extremely thin threads, so the openings are much larger than standard mesh, and because 150ss threads are thinner, the interference created by the threads "blocking" ink is greatly reduced. The combination of larger openings and the thinner threads not "blocking" ink allows more ink to pass through the mesh with significantly less squeegee pressure, resulting in sharper images and much better coverage! Benefits when printing PLASTISOL INK: Because less pressure is needed to transfer ink, the ink deposit sits on top of the fabric rather than being driven into it, providing greater opacity. An additional benefit of needing less squeegee pressure is that you can use softer durometer squeegee blades, further increasing the amount of ink transferred. Depending on the ink and squeegee blade used, many dark fabric prints can be printed with one print cycle, eliminating flashing and a second layer of ink. Benefits when printing WATER-BASED INK: Water-based inks easily pass through the mesh, allowing the ink to fully penetrate the substrate with minimal squeegee pressure. Water-based ink will resist the tendency to dry in the screen with 150ss mesh. If you have struggled with water-based ink, give a 150ss screen a try! Benefits when printing SPECIALTY INKS: Discharge ink prints like a dream, resists drying in the screen, and will wet-out the fabric, ensuring complete dye discharge! Jewel tones, fine glitters, and various metallics can be printed with fine detail and excellent coverage. Puff ink and other specialty inks can be printed with fine detail and excellent coverage. What is special about a 23"x 24" frame? Four left chest prints can be ganged (rather than only two) A 16" squeegee can be used in either direction 15% more printing area than a 20"x24" frame. All the great benefits of thin-mesh come at the cost of durability. Thin mesh screens are FRAGILE. If you handle these frames with care, they will last for many years; however, if your workers break standard 110 mesh regularly, then these screens will probably not last very long. To remind workers how delicate the mesh is, we have taken the time to screen-print every frame using a special epoxy ink, with the following playful message: "WARNING: Very delicate - Handle with love."
