No. The Aiden works fully without the app. Guided Brew mode, all four built-in presets, and manual controls all run on the machine itself. The app adds scheduling, firmware updates, and roaster-specific profile downloads but is completely optional. What filters does the Aiden use? The single-serve basket (up to 3 cups) uses standard Melitta #2 cone filters. The batch basket (3–12 cups) uses Melitta 8–12 cup basket filters. Both are widely available and inexpensive. Does it come with a grinder or scale? No, the Aiden does not include a grinder or scale. It does have a built-in dose calculator that tells you exactly how many grams to grind for your chosen cup count. For the best results, pair it with a quality burr grinder — we carry the Fellow Ode and a full range of Mahlkönig and Baratza grinders. How does the cold brew preset work? The Aiden's cold brew preset adapts the drip process to pull out sweetness and minimize bitterness. It is not a full immersion cold brew method. For a classic cold-brew concentrate, steep coarsely ground coffee in cold water in the fridge for 14–16 hours. Both methods work beautifully with our Blueberry Sweet Crumble and Berry Revival Cold Brew. What's the warranty? The Fellow Aiden comes with a 2-year standard warranty, extendable to 3 years when you register your product at fellowproducts.com. Which coffees work best in the Aiden? The roast-specific presets mean it performs across the full spectrum. For everyday drinking, we recommend pairing with a medium roast — our Blueberry Sweet Crumble, Velvet Vanilla Cardamom, or Kona Island Blend are all exceptional on the medium roast preset. For something brighter, our Ethiopia Natural shines on the light roast setting.
