I always figured I’d go back into it, but for whatever reason I never did. It’s a humble drawing on brown Kraft paper, but in its simplicity I always sensed various possibilities. I have used it as a prompt to begin a few paintings as well as an abandoned sculpture. Last month, my buddy Jeremy at MARGINS Imprint mentioned that he was going to Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair and asked if there was anything I’d like to work on. We ended up producing an archival pigment print of the pastel drawing and I worked up 12 variations in a mix of pastel and color pencil.
