A delightful fabric that has the appearance of linen. Ramie is a strong and durable fabric that is derived from a nettle plant, known as Boehmeria nivea. Native to Asia, the yarns from this plant have been used for over 6,000 years. As it is a natural derivative, Ramie fabric is biodegradable, sustainable and regenerative. As a fabric, Ramie has the appearance of linen. You will see a gentle slub. Like linen, it holds structure and some shape. The added cotton means it’s a little softer to the touch. Comfortable to wear - it’s highly absorbent, quick drying and breathable. This particular Ramie is light to midweight, making it perfect for dresses, trousers, skirts, shirts, tops, coverups, jackets etc. There is a lovely slub texture to the surface. 140cm wide. 228 g/m2. 70% Ramie, 30% Cotton.
