VICTORIAN BOXED 15CT GOLD KEY PENDANT
A superb Victorian 15ct gold memorial key sold with the original presentation box.m dates to 1891. The key design is completely unique with a quatrefoil bow with a rope work border, the key has a long reeded stem with four simple key wards. The key has a chunky bail along the stem making it easy to add you your favourite chain. The whole piece has a stunning rich yellow patina. The presentation box has an engrave shield plaque which reads; ‘Presented to the Hon. George N. Curzon, M.P. On his opening the memorial infant school, Blowick May 14th 1891’ George Nathaniel Curzon was a Member of Parliament for Southport at this time. Ceremonial items like this were often given to dignitaries when they performed official openings of public buildings during the Victorian era. This is a wonderful dated piece of history, and the item itself looks stunning on a simple chain! As a key jewellery fan, I was super excited about this find. Sold with the original box.
