2011 Alexander McQueen Red Abstract Rose Print Chiffon Corset Gown
This stunning gown is from Sarah Burton’s Resort 2011 collection for Alexander McQueen. One of the designer’s first collections for McQueen after the eponymous founder’s passing, Vogue praised the “blood-drenched chiffon” of this dress and mentioned Isabelle Adjani in the film La Reine Margot as a possible reference. Tailored from silk-chiffon, it has a strapless cut with a gently curved sweetheart neckline. It contains a beige mesh corset which is boned the whole way around the body. From the curved bust, chiffon falls to the floor, gently pleated and pinned around the bust and waist. It is cut to sit at an angle atop the front of the hips. This silhouette has since become a signature for the house. The chiffon is patterned with an abstract digital print of a red rose, but the pooling, flowing red and black chiffon could easily be mistaken for something more macabre. The back of the dress closes with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye. The skirt section has a separate silk chiffon nude lining. This dress is in excellent condition save for the brand label having dropped off at some point. There are a few, very faint marks on the bottom on the chiffon lining - completely unseen when worn. Made from 100% Silk and labelled an Italian size 40, UK 8 or US 4. The fabric has no stretch. MEASUREMENTS BUST - 29 in. (74 cm) WAIST - 27 in. (69 cm) HIP - 50 in. (127 cm) LENGTH - 57 in. (145 cm)
