Case Study: Helping Geno’s Philly Cheesesteak Increase Throughput with Precision Slicing
Customer Spotlight: Geno’s Philly Cheesesteak When an iconic name like Geno’s Philly Cheesesteak looks to improve production, there is no room for compromise. They needed a slicing solution that could increase throughput, maintain consistent cut quality, and support long-term reliability in a high-demand food production environment. That is where RAM Manufacturing Equipment came in. The Challenge Geno’s was using Grasselli slicers and wanted to improve output without sacrificing the precision and consistency they were accustomed to. Their team needed a solution that would allow them to process product more efficiently while still delivering the cut quality their operation depends on. They also wanted a partner who could do more than just provide equipment. They needed guidance on product tempering, operational optimization, and an ongoing service plan to protect their investment. The Solution RAM worked closely with Geno’s to supply two new MHS 70-21 PCE EM slicers. The MHS 70-21 PCE EM line was the right fit because it offered the throughput Geno’s was looking for while maintaining the precision slicing performance they were used to. One of the standout advantages of the electronic PLC-controlled EM version was its ability to store up to 20 presets with custom names. This gave the Geno’s team a major operational advantage. Instead of manually adjusting settings each time, operators could simply select the product or cut style from the saved presets and get to work quickly and consistently. This helped improve ease of use, reduce setup time, and promote repeatable slicing results across shifts. RAM’s Consultative Approach This project went beyond simply installing new machines. RAM also consulted with Geno’s on product tempering, helping them determine the best way to bring product to the ideal temperature quickly so they could optimize both cutting performance and throughput. Proper tempering is a critical part of maximizing slicer efficiency, and this guidance helped support the performance of the new system from day one. Ongoing Support Geno’s also chose RAM to provide quarterly preventative maintenance service on both slicers. By scheduling regular PM service, Geno’s is taking a proactive approach to maximize the longevity, performance, and reliability of each unit. This helps reduce unexpected downtime, maintain slicing accuracy, and protect their investment over the long term. The Result With the addition of two MHS 70-21 PCE EM slicers, Geno’s Philly Cheesesteak gained a slicing solution designed to help them: Increase throughput Maintain precise, consistent cuts Reduce setup time with saved PLC presets Improve operator efficiency Optimize slicing through proper product tempering Protect equipment life with quarterly preventative maintenance Why RAM At RAM Manufacturing Equipment, we do more than sell machines. We work alongside our customers to provide the right equipment, the right process guidance, and the right service support to help them succeed long after installation. For Geno’s Philly Cheesesteak, that meant delivering a slicing solution tailored to their operation — and backing it up with expert consultation and ongoing preventative maintenance.
