Uncirculated. Red & brown and Proof-like. Small flan crack. Rare. The reverse shows Spence’s caduceus, which tells us quite a bit about his views of commerce. The caduceus is horizontal as opposed to vertical, with the crown on one end and a Phrygian (liberty) cap on the other. This represents equality in power and commerce between the crown and the people. This really starts to get to the core of Spence’s socialist ideals and his opposition to ‘top-down’ economics.
