Bodice Pattern Alterations for Better Fit - Virtual Workshop
Take your sewing to the next level with this hands-on workshop focused on achieving a flawless fit. In this online class, you’ll learn how to choose the correct pattern size, analyze garment fit, and make alterations that ensure your next project fits beautifully before you even start sewing. This workshop focuses on the upper body. This workshop combines lecture, demonstration, and practical exercises. Prior to the class, you will recieve a workbook that includes half-scale blocks that we will use for the exercises. This workbook must be printed on single-sided paper You’ll work with half-scale blocks (printed at home) to explore a range of fit techniques, then apply them to your own 1/4-scale blocks. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the tools and confidence to adjust patterns for a custom fit, solve common fit issues, and take your sewing from “okay” to beautifully tailored. You will learn how to: Selecting the correct pattern size Understanding ease (wearing ease vs. design ease) Grading between and beyond sizes Identifying fit issues using wrinkles as clues Upper-body alteration techniques Sequencing fit adjustments for best results Who Should Take This Class This workshop is designed for sewists with experience following patterns and sewing garments. You should be comfortable with basic garment construction and terminology. A laptop or tablet and the printed workbook (single-sided) are required for the exercises. Please note that this isn't a class to learn to sew garments, for this workshop, you should already know how to follow a garment pattern, have sewn clothing, and understand basic garment sewing terminology.
