Kingston
Kingston is a big puppy that is looking for someone who can give him guidance and stability; at just 13 months old, this teenage boy has already spent time in the pound, left there by people who had no idea how much work raising a German Shepherd would be. Kingston has spent some time in foster care and is now ready to find his forever home where he can continue his training and reach his full potential. Kingston is a friendly boy who enjoys meeting new people, he is a typical German Shepherd that will use his big bark when he first sees someone, but quickly turns into an over-the-top friendly teenager who can be a exuberant with his greetings and will jump up to say hello, even giving a cheeky mouth trying to initiate play. Kingston is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 12 years old. Kingston is still learning impulse control and is working on his manners, he needs a strong, confident handler that will put boundaries in place and do ongoing training with him. Kingston loves to play and is also incredibly food motivated, he picks up training easily but is also a cheeky teenager that will test his humans to see what he can get away with. We are looking for someone with large breed experience that has recent history working with large boisterous dogs that need a firm but fair approach. Kingston loves going for walks and adventures, playing in water and splashing at the beach is a favourite pass-time, he loves being involved in whatever his humans are doing. Zoomies around the yard during playtime, learning new commands, snuggling on the couch and just being with his people are how Kingston likes to spend his days, he prefers having someone home often. Kingston is reactive to other dogs mostly due to his inexperience; he has shown that he can ignore other dogs at a distance when distracted with treats and toys, however up close he becomes overwhelmed and lashes out not knowing what to do. Kingston will need ongoing training and socialisation around other dogs, learning to stay calm and ignore others is his first goal. We highly recommend Kingston and his new owner work with a trainer to set him up for success. Kingston needs to be the only pet in his new home; he would not be suited to a home with cats or other small pets. Kingston is an active boy, looking for a home where he will get plenty of exercise, and lots of mental stimulation through training, play sessions, enrichment games toys, and confidence building games. Kingston loves to learn and is the type of dog who may be keen to get involved in agility or other dog sports once his foundation obedience is us to scratch. Kingston loves to play and has great engagement, flirt poles, tug, fetch and any toy that is soft are his favourite – he shows a great drive and is eager to work for his reward, this boy has endless potential in the right hands. This loyal boy is looking for a best friend who will put the time and effort into him, he is a young dog that oozes cheek and sass, but above all else, has a lot of love to give someone and is completely devoted and obsessed with his people. Kingston is a high effort, high reward dog – the more you put in, the more you will get out of him; we know with training, further socialisation and lots of confidence building, he will make the most incredible companion.
