General description Appearance: Usually light brown to golden caps, sometimes with a slightly bluish bruising (a common trait in psilocybin mushrooms). Stems are pale and can also show blue discoloration when handled. “Blue” name origin: The blue tint comes from oxidation of psilocybin/psilocin when the mushroom is bruised or damaged—not from actual color genetics.
