In this class, we explore herbal perfumery as both craft and sensory medicine, tracing the history of botanical fragrance while learning the basics of natural perfume blending through top, middle, and base notes. Students will work with aromatic plants and essential oils to create a personal roll-on perfume, room spray, and aromatherapy inhaler, while discovering how scent can be used for beauty, ritual, emotional support, and meaningful self-expression. * Trace the rich history of botanical fragrance, from older perfume traditions and folk scenting practices to the more personal art of natural perfumery today. * Learn how scent affects mood, memory, atmosphere, ritual, and emotional life, making fragrance far more than simple adornment. * Understand the structure of perfume through top, middle, and base notes, and how to build blends that have lift, body, depth, and staying power. * Explore the personalities of aromatic plants and essential oils, not just how they smell, but how they feel, what they evoke, and how they work together. * Create your own roll-on perfume, room spray, and aromatherapy inhaler, leaving with handmade botanical creations that feel personal, beautiful, and meaningful. 2-3 hours, $65. Clary Gardens offers recreational trails for all ages and varying levels of terrain, showcasing the rose garden all the way through our half-mile woodland loop - a fascinating area with natural geologic formations (a local favorite).
