Gene Cafe CBR-101 Home Roaster & Green Coffee Starter Kit
The Gene Cafe CBR-101 handles the precision – temperature, timing, and even heat distribution – so attention stays on the coffee. We've bundled the roaster with five of our green coffees (250 g each), giving new home roasters everything needed to begin exploring what the machine can produce. Brazil Bela Vista Pulped Natural Colombia Supremo Origen Indonesia Flores Island G1 Ethiopia Sidamo Shefina G2 Colombia Pink Bourbon Gene Cafe CBR-101 The CBR-101 uses indirect hot air and a patented off-axis rotating chamber to roast 250 g batches evenly. Heat circulates continuously through and around the beans. There is no direct contact between the beans and the heating element, which supports consistent colour development across the batch. Temperature and time are set via two dial controls. The red dial sets target temperature and doubles as the start/stop control; the blue dial sets the timer and controls power on/off. A dual digital display shows current temperature and elapsed time simultaneously. The glass roasting chamber provides unobstructed visibility throughout the cycle. Once the roast completes, forced cooling runs automatically for approximately 8 minutes – or can be activated manually at any point during the roast. Green Coffee Starter Kit We've curated five of our green coffees (250 g each) in this starter kit, with a combined value of $50. The selection spans a range of origins, processing methods, and cup profiles – appropriate for exploring the CBR-101's temperature and timing range from the first batch onward. Brazil Bela Vista Pulped Natural: Pulped natural processing leaves a thin layer of dried fruit on the bean, contributing body and mild sweetness to the cup. Forgiving across development levels from medium through full city; a reliable starting point for calibrating the machine. Colombia Supremo Origen: Washed process; clean cup, even density, well-balanced potential. Reliable for calibrating temperature and timing, and a consistent reference point across successive roast sessions. Indonesia Flores Island G1: Wet-processed island-origin coffee with more structural complexity than the South American selections. Expect full body and lower acidity at medium-dark to dark development. Ethiopia Sidamo Shefina G2: Grade 2 coffee from Ethiopia's Sidama zone. Fruit-forward at lighter roast levels; aromatic intensity shifts meaningfully with development. A good introduction to African origin characteristics. Colombia Pink Bourbon: A distinct varietal selection noted for cup clarity and complexity. Performs across a range of roast levels; shows its character most clearly at light to medium development.
