1961 Bronze Medal Society Of Medalists SOM 64 Nat Choate David and Goliath MIB

Description: A nice large bronze medal from 1961. This is the Society of Medalists 64th issue medal. The medal, known as David and Goliath, has the image of a giant warrior seated with sword and buckler being assisted by five assistants on the obverse. The obverse has the words "LET HIM NOT BOAST WHO PUTS HIS ARMOR ON" along the edge. The reverse has the image of a young David cleaning his sword next to Goliath's severed head with goliath's sword and armor being carried by assistants. The reverse has the legend "AS HE WHO PUTS IT OFF THE RATTLED ONE" along the edge. There is also the mark *N.C. (c) 61* below the image on the reverse. The medal has a nice toned bronze finish. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists 64th Issue-NOV. 1961 NATHANIAL CHOATE.SC." followed by "MEDALLIC ART CO. N.Y. BRONZE". The medal comes in what we believe is the original issue box with the descriptive booklet describing the medal. A great looking and very interesting medal to add to your collection. (c) 61* below the image on the reverse. Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it uncirculated Mint State. The medal has no wear and a minimum of surface marks. The medal is great looking and is problem free. The box and the pamphlet are also in very good condition. A great medal to add to your collection.
